The problem every mid-size IT team has
Spare space on a Windows Server, idle disks on PCs, a NAS in the corner —
and a growing Azure or AWS invoice for backups that never needed to live there.
The waste is invisible
Nobody inventories idle disk. Buying more cloud is the default because it is one
invoice and one API.
Object stores want perfect hardware
MinIO and Ceph expect identical, always-on nodes. Real estates are uneven, and
PCs sleep at 6 p.m.
“Do nothing” wins
Without a free, read-only savings case, the incumbent is the current cloud bill.
Discovery exists to beat that.
What StorageMesh is
One ordinary S3 endpoint. Behind it: the disks you already own, plus
object clouds you already pay for. The dashboard shows one number: what you stopped paying.
Primary
The brain. Typical on a Windows Server that stays on: console, S3 API, and this
machine’s spare disk. Starts with Windows.
Secondary
Another Windows PC, Windows server, or Mac adding spare disk only. Join with a
30-minute code from the Primary console. Not a scan of Documents. Macs cannot be
the Primary.
Cloud as extra copies
S3-compatible, Azure Blob, OneDrive via Microsoft Graph — encrypted extra copies,
never the last copy, never the sync folder on disk.
Who it is for
Schools, group companies, healthcare archives, trading houses with branches,
and any IT team of one or two people who already run Veeam or similar.
- Keep Veeam, Commvault or Acronis — point the repository at StorageMesh.
- Offices connected only by internet: VPN first; TLS + allow-listed ports if there is no VPN.
- One site licence for the whole mesh — not a key per PC.
- Data stays on your machines. Alpha Web never hosts the files.
How a first conversation works
We do not lead with software. We lead with a number you can take to the board.

Licensing — what we will say in public today
Community use is free inside published capacity limits (small sites and schools).
Paid licences are per managed terabyte, one site key for the whole mesh.
